Why is branding essential for Small Businesses?

7.29.2008
On a previous post entitled, “Branding Basics for Small Businesses,” I have discussed this issue at length. I emphasized that making our services and products to become the ‘preferred choice’ is the driving motive behind defining and creating a small business’ brand. We want to be unique. We want to standout. We want to offer the best value. We want to lead and our competitors to follow, as aptly pointed out by one of my blog commentators here. Bottom line is we want our customers to know literally that if they choose us they are making the right buying decision.

Newbie entrepreneurs and most small business owners, I observed, are intimidated by the branding concept and even find it as unnecessary. What immediately comes to their mind is additional cost or capex (capital expenditures), without considering the potential profits for building a ‘preferred’ brand. Preferred brand means profits, anyway you look at it.

Branding is not difficult, as it seems, especially when you have a professional to assist you. Unlike corporate giants, I know that small businesses do not have or cannot afford to have a department to take care of this. However, there are excellent outside helps, like Brand Identity Guru, that you can easily tap to help you build your brand. Start today!

Namaste!
